The story opens with Stalin’s persecution of Boris Pasternak and Pasternak’s struggle to write his masterpiece, Dr Zhivago. The persecution doesn’t stop with Stalin’s death. The Soviet authorities still refuse to publish his novel. Following a fateful encounter, the book is published in the West, and that’s when the CIA machine really kicks in to undermine the USSR.
Based on real events, this is a Cold War novel with a difference.
